TMG (trimethylglycine or betaine anhydrous) is a naturally occurring amine that protects against cellular osmotic stress. TMG can also be synthesised from its precursor, choline.(1) Most importantly however, TMG serves as a methyl donor for the remethylation of homocysteine into methionine, a vital cellular process to support optimal cardiovascular health.(1) TMG also functions as a lipotrope, ensuring the liver is able to effectively metabolise fats, thus preventing excess fat storage in the liver.
